Microdermabrasion

Rejuvenating Skin Cells with Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is an exfoliation technique used for the removal of dry, dead epidermal skin cells. While it has long been used in facial treatments, new and improved medical devices have made it a commonly requested procedure. Microdermabrasion can be performed alone or in conjunction with other skin treatments, such as a full facial.

The DiamondTome® Wand used for Microdermabrasion

In the offices of Dr. Hernandez, The DiamondTome® Wand is used by aesthetician Anouck Fauteux to perform microdermabrasion precisely and effectively. A refined and powerful implement, the handheld wand incorporates the polishing action of diamond chips. The DiamondTome is guided across the affected areas of the face and carefully controlled to achieve the appropriate depth, effectively smoothing and refinishing the skin surface.

The DiamondTome will remove the dry and dead skin cells of the epidermis as the handheld wand carefully exfoliates the affected skin. The residue is simultaneously vacuumed off, using a small suction device, and the face is left soft and radiant.

The suction technique has been shown to boost blood circulation and collagen stimulation. Abrading and removing the top layer of epidermal cells promotes healthy cell turnover and allows new robust skin cells to form.

This procedure will lessen the abundance of fine wrinkles in specific areas, usually around the lips and chin. Microdermabrasion as performed with the DiamondTome is also beneficial to skin conditions such as UV damage, hyperpigmentation, acne scarring, and large pores.
