Laugh Line (Nasolabial Fold) Correction

The lines that go from the side of the nose to the corner of the mouth are often referred to as the laugh lines or the smile lines. These are the nasolabial folds. With the aging process and the deflation of the cheeks, these lines are more pronounced and can become permanent grooves in the face.

Laugh lines are generally affected by a loss of volume in the cheek, which emphasizes the creases in the nasolabial folds. The hollowness in the cheeks is the result of a combined loss and relaxation of soft tissue, diminished elasticity in the skin, and natural bone reabsorption.

Removing the Laugh Lines with Injectables

There are a variety of non-surgical treatments that can lessen the depth of these creases and folds. Dr. Hernandez may choose to use a hyaluronan injectable like Juvederm XC, Radiesse, or Sculptra to fill in the creases.
