Lower Eye (Tear Trough Indentation) Correction

The area below the eyes is often described as the “tear trough.” Volume loss around the eye (periorbital region) produces different degrees of tear trough indentation in some people. Sometimes, this causes a sunken appearance around the eye, like a darkening circle.

Some patients have a deeper tear trough than others, making them appear fatigued. If you are fully rested, yet look tired due to darkened circles under your eyes caused by a deepened tear trough, you may want to consult Dr. Hernandez.

Restylane Can Diminish the Indentation of the Tear Trough

Dr. Hernandez may advise you to consider an injection of Restylane, which will add volume to the area. Restylane will not hold as much fluid as do some of the other Hyaluronic acid fillers, and its particles have a low cohesiveness that adds elasticity to the skin. Restylane will soften the skin in this area and restore it to a youthful appearance. Another option is the newer hyaluronic acid injectable, Belotero.
