A Forehead Lift, also called Brow Lift, can help to soften the tired, angry or sad look caused by sagging of the eyebrows, forehead wrinkling or frown lines. This procedure diminishes some of the most visible signs of aging, e.g. drooping eyebrows, hooding over the eyes, forehead furrows, frown lines, or low, heavy brows.

In a Forehead Lift, some muscles and tissues that cause the furrowing or drooping are partially removed or altered to smooth the forehead, raise the eyebrows and minimize frown lines. There are two different methods for performing Brow Lifts; the conventional surgical method, in which the incision is hidden just behind the hairline; or the Endoscopic Brow Lift which uses a viewing instrument that allows the procedure to be performed with minimal incisions. Both techniques yield similar results -- smoother forehead skin and a more animated appearance. Often this procedure is done in conjunction with a Face Lift or eyelid surgery.

An Endoscopic Brow Lift is a relatively simple procedure. Instead of an ear-to-ear incision, like in a conventional Forehead Lift, three very small incisions are made just behind the hairline. A pencil-like camera device, called an endoscope, is inserted through one of the incisions, allowing Dr. Hernandez to have a clear view of the muscles and tissues beneath the skin. The endoscope guides the doctor as she partially removes the muscles that produce frown lines, and repositions the eyebrows. If you already have a good position at the center over your nose - the Lateral Brow Suspension Lift works by elevating the lateral part of the brow area.

The Best Candidates for a Forehead Lift

A Forehead Lift is most commonly performed on people in the 40-60 age range to minimize the visible effects of aging. However, it can also help people of any age who have developed furrows or frown lines due to stress or muscle activity. Some individuals with inherited conditions, such as low eyebrows or furrows above the nose, can also benefit from this procedure.

Your New Look

Although you should be up and about in a day or two, plan on taking it easy for at least one week after surgery. Most patients are able to return to work within ten days. Endoscopic patients may feel ready to return even sooner. Most patients are pleased with the results of their Forehead Lift. Often, patients don't realize how much their sagging forehead contributed to the signs of aging until they see how much younger and more rested they appear after the lift.
