Permanent makeup or micro-pigmentation is the micro-implantation of mineral extract into the skin. This ancient practice which has been used in Asia for centuries is now available through modern and safe technology. All dyes used are allergy-tested and cleared by the FDA. Our licensed cosmetologist is certified in micro-pigment implantation and has been with this practice for 18 years.
A topical or local anesthetic is used to prevent any pain or discomfort during the procedure. A complete upper and lower lash line takes 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Eyebrows and lips take about the same amount of time.
The permanent makeup procedure for the eyelids involves placing the pigment subtly between the lashes and into the dermis, creating the appearance of a soft eye liner. Special dyes are applied through a delicate hand piece specially designed for this procedure to accentuate your natural beauty. Using new micro-pigmentation techniques, eyebrows can be recreated using fine lines to simulate real hair. Lips are highlighted to enhance their fullness. Some scars can also be camouflaged.
Most patients recover quickly and resume all normal activities within 24 hours after their procedure. Topical antibiotic ointment is used for about a week. You will be asked to refrain from applying makeup. It is also recommended to avoid direct sunlight and wearing contact lenses for a few days. Some patients may experience slight swelling in the area which will subside with the use of cold compresses.
